Spanish Singers Wanted For Recording
10 Singers.
N Likely = 10; (5 Male, 5 Female).
Ideally this would be split 50/50 male/female, but 60/40 would be acceptable.
Participants are ideally performing artists in the identified genre.
Audio in any of the 4 languages is acceptable.
Genres can be self-identified by the artist, but should be validated for consistency.
If reducing scope, we would prefer to cut whole genres starting at the bottom, rather than reduce N.
Collection Instructions and Requirements
Data Collection Objectives / Overview
Studio-quality recordings by real artists and musical diversity over particular genres that can be used to train & evaluate automated EQ & Compression algorithms.
Data Collection for Project:
Diverse, Studio-Quality Singing Audio
Requirements
10 Singers per Language.
N Likely = 10; (5 Male, 5 Female).

Proposed Languages (Prioritized)
Chinese
Arabic
Spanish
Russian
Recorded in a “Studio Environment”
Studio-Quality microphones - ideally with a variety of dynamic & condenser microphones.
It doesn’t matter so much what microphones are used, except that it’s not uniform through the data collection, and that we record what microphones were used.
Studio-quality acoustic environment
If the artist records for an hour, perhaps we could use multiple microphones during the session?
Essential metadata we would require in this format:
Microphone make / model
DAC / audio interface used
Pre-amps, if applicable
Total no. of minutes per participant: ~30 minutes
1 take different songs 3 minutes each meaning that the participant has to sing the different song once (one take) and each take should be a minimum of 3 minutes. Also, the client needs use of different microphones types such as dynamic, condenser, etc for each take and record (in the metadata) which microphone is used for each take. The reason for using different microphones is that Client could have multiple microphone recordings for the same singer/participant
Audio Properties
Audio must be recorded in lossless format. Format is not particular (e.g. Wave) as audio can be converted to other audio formats.
Studio environment
Audio format: minimum of 48 kHz PCM, mono, single channel, WAV file format.
Audio will not be processed (e.g., no compression, reverb, EQ).
Monophonic recording of just the voice itself, no additional back-up or background. If the Singer requires backup or a backup track, they are welcome to play it with headphones for themselves, as long as the sound doesn’t bleed too badly into the vocal recording.
Background Noise: None (Quiet, indoor)
2 seconds interval between each recorded speech or song so as not to affect pronunciation
